These alliances not only enhance levels of healthcare, they also provide for broadened educational, clinical and research opportunities.

The New Life Center
Physical and programmatic expansion is underway. Recently completed is a state-of-the-art 15,000 square foot New Life Center, including 16 Labor/Delivery/Recovery suites, and seven Labor and Delivery Exam Triage beds. More than 5,000 babies are born here annually, many of them high-risk transfers from other institutions.

Winthrop Heliport
Winthrop is a Level 1 Trauma Center and patient services have been intensified as demand for emergency services is high. In order to offer the finest care to the greater than 45,000 Emergency Room patients, their families and their providers, the Emergency Department has been expanded and renovated: complete with a separate Pediatric Emergency Room, a Rule-Out Cardiac Unit and an enhanced triage suite.

Further investments in Winthrop's infrastructure include a totally redesigned Health Sciences Library. It features an expanded Computer Learning Center and a new educational Conference Center, equipped with high-technology teleconferencing and other advanced audiovisual systems. Over the next three years, there will be an anticipated $40 million investment in services and facilities including new floors for Pediatrics and Cardiology complete with state of the art technology, to ensure the Hospital's continued responsiveness to the ever- increasing demands for service.
