The hilly North Shore offers lush foliage, small towns with a New England feeling and the inlets and coves of the North Fork. The sandy expanses of the South Shore feature some of the finest beaches on the Eastern Seaboard. World-renowned Jones Beach is less than 30 minutes by car and within two hours are the Hamptons beaches and the National Seashore at Fire Island. Montauk Point, the eastern tip of Long Island's South Fork, is famous for its deep-sea fishing.
